Our
church is involved in various community
service projects and outreach activities. We believe that by
going
into the community we serve, not only the God and Goddess, but also our
fellow humans. Furthermore, the time spent interacting with
others
in the community is enjoyable.
Gastonia Book
Club
**The Book Club is on temporary hiatus**
The
church sponsors
a Wiccan book club which meets at Books-a- Million in Gastonia, NC the
second Thursday of each month. The meetings start at 7:00pm and are
open
to the public. Each month we feature a book of interest to Wiccans.
Non-Wiccans
are welcome to attend and contribute to discussions, of course. These
meetings
are not intended as a forum for debating the merits of Wicca itself,
however,
and disruptive individuals will be removed. Click
Here for directions.

Classes
Periodically,
the church offers a two-part seminar, Understanding Wicca,
which
provides an introduction to Wicca. The class provides a basic overview
of Wiccan history, theology, and practice. Ideas from Scott
Cunningham's
book, Wicca:
A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner, are combined with other
material to provide beginners with a solid grasp of Wicca's core
concepts.
If
your organization would like to host a presentation of Understanding
Wicca please email us
for
details. Classes typically last 2-3 hours per session. These classes
are
offered free of charge.

Adopt-A-Highway
The
church has recently adopted a two mile section of highway in Shelby.
Our stretch of road begins at the Super Wal-Mart on Hwy 74
running
West, then turns onto DeKalb Street.
We
perform
cleanups quarterly. Contact
us if you'd like to help. Volunteers must be at least 12
years
old, receive safety instruction, and wear an orange safety vest.
This is
hard, but fun and rewarding work, and sturdy boots and work gloves are
strongly recommended!
Our next scheduled clean-up is just before our business
meeting on May
15th. We
meet at Monteray Restaurant on DeKalb Street in Shelby at 9:00 am,
before the heat of the day sets in. Clean-ups
are held once a quarter, so watch this space for specific details on
all the
cleanups.
